Uganda: Annual Headline Inflation Declines to 7.6% in January 2016

The Annual Headline Inflation for the year ending January 2016 declined to 7.6 per cent compared to the 8.4 per cent that was recorded for the year ended December 2015.

The main driver was the Annual Food Crops Inflation which decreased to 12.3 per cent for the year ending January 2016, compared to the 16.0 per cent recorded for the year ended December 2015.

In addition, the Annual Energy, Fuel and Utilities (EFU) Inflation decreased to 6.8 per cent for the year ending January 2016 compared to the 7.0 per cent recorded in December 2015.

The Annual Core Inflation went down to 7.1 per cent for the year ending January 2016 compared to the 7.6 per cent registered during the year ended December 2015. This is according to a Uganda Bureau of Statistics Press Statement
