The Bank of Tanzania (the Bank) is principally mandated by the Bank of Tanzania Act 1995 (the Act) to exercise the functions of a central Bank, which include: to formulate and implement monetary policy, to issue currency, to regulate and supervise banks and financial institutions, and to manage gold and foreign exchange reserves.
