FUNCTIONS

To ensure appropriate monetary policy formulation and implementation

To act as the fiscal agent of the Government

To license, regulate and supervise banks and financial service institutions registered under the Act to ensure a safe and sound financial system

To manage the banking and currency operations of the Bank of Zambia ensuring the provision of an effective to commercial banks, Government and other users.

VALUES OF THE BANK OF ZAMBIA

Employees of the Bank of Zambia shall at all times endeavour to direct their efforts towards the achievement of the Mission of the Bank by consistently following the Values encapsulated in the BoZ Way, which means ACTION for :

Always deliver our commitments - We will honour the personal commitment we make, on time and to the agreed quantity.

Customer First - Every one of us has customers, whether internal or external. We will identify, agree and meet the requirements of our own customers.

Time - We will always be on time in order to avoid wasting both our own time and that of our colleagues and our customers.

Integrity - We will be honest and sincere in all our dealings with collegues and customers of the Bank of Zambia. We will, at all times, ensure the proper use of the physical and financial assets of the Bank that are under our custody, control and influence.

Objectives and Goals - We will set ourselves challenging and measurable objectives and goals and will work diligently toward achieving them within the targeted time frame.

New Ideas - We recognise the accelerating rate of change both within and outside the Republic of Zambia. We will therefore be open to new ideas and seek to develop both ourselves, and our collegues in the necessary skills to meet the challenges of the future.
